On Saturday, October 3, 2015 Karen and Nico took a bus down to the Greyhound Racetrack in Tijuana with the FAST FRIENDS Greyhound Rescue group. It was a wonderful day spent petting soon-to-be retired greyhounds (they only wear muzzles when around the other dogs, and when racing), and watching these awesome working dogs racing around the track. We also got to see the dogs weighed-in, dressed in their racing bibs, and what was most outstanding, to see how well they were treated by their handlers and trainers. One of the dogs had been injured the day before in practice, so we took him back with us on the bus for a surgical repair, and then to be fostered and ultimately placed in a new forever home. FAST FRIENDS has rescued over 3500 racing greyhounds over the last 30 years. Everyone on the bus fell madly in love with the injured dog and lucky Nico got to hold him on his lap the whole way back.
