Kids in School, check! Now It’s Time For The Pets!

I hope you all had a great summer with your families!  Now that the kids are back in school, and life is beginning to return to a normal routine, we wanted to let you know that it is Senior Pet Awareness month here at Harbor Animal Hospital.  I’m sure you all know that your pets age 5 to 7 years for every one human year. This means health problems quicker to progress and diseases common to senior pets, such as heart and kidney disease need to be diagnosed as soon as possible.

If your pet is 7 years or older we consider them a “Senior.”  Although your pet may seem healthy, many health issues that affect senior pets may not present symptoms until your pet becomes seriously ill. A comprehensive senior program can increase your pets life span by helping us identify problems early enough to institute proactive preventative healthcare measures. Early detection of disease often gives us more effective and less costly treatment options.

My own dog, Fiyera, is turning 6 in October, it is amazing how fast time flies, I feel like we just got her last year! If your pet is seven or older bring him or her in this month to take advantage of our “Senior” Specials.

Hope to see you and your pets soon!
